AHG Uniform Quick Guide
Below is a checklist of uniforms and materials each girl will need for AHG. For more detailed information about uniforms, please checkout the AHG Uniform Guide.
*AHG Official Class A uniforms are required for Troop Meetings and Events.
*AHG Official Class B uniforms are encourage, these worn for specified Troop and Area events.
*AHG Reach Higher Class B uniforms are optional and worn for specified Unit Activities.
*Shoes at all levels should be plain colored, closed-toe shoes or sneakers.
We do not want books or uniforms to be a hardship for any family or prevent them from joining the Troop. If you need financial assistance, please reach out to our Troop Shepard Jane Murphy at jmadison85@gmail.com.
PATHFINDER (ages 5-6)
Class A (required) Uniform:
- AHG pathfinder T-shirt
- Pathfinder Handbook
- Pathfinder Necklace* (order 1 of each number: 0, 7, 1, 4)
Purchase Anywhere:
- Navy-blue walking shorts/pants/skort/skirt
*After purchasing the necklace, put in a Ziploc bag and give it to unit leader. Pathfinders will earn the beads throughout the year.
**There is a Pathfinder Start-Up Bundle that includes all of the items above.
TENDERHEART (ages 6-9)
Class A (required) Uniform:
- AHG Tenderheart Vest
- AHG navy Neckerchief
- American Flag Patch
- Troop Number patches (blue) (Order 1 of each number: 0, 1, 7, 4)
- AHG Pin
- Tenderheart & Explorer Handbook**
Purchase anywhere:
- White polo
- Navy-blue walking shorts/pants/skort/skirt
Optional:
* There is a Tenderheart Start Up Bundle that includes all of the items above (including the not required items) as well as a Tenderheart Vest Bundle if you want to make things a little easier.
** Returning girls: If your Handbook was purchased in 2020, you may continue to use it this year. If it was purchased prior to 2020, you will need to purchase the new Handbook.
Class B (optional) Uniform:
- AHG Official Class B T-Shirt (encouraged!)
- AHG Official Reach Higher Class B Tenderheart T-Shirt
- AHG Official Class B Long-Sleeve T-Shirt
*The Class B T-Shirts can be worn with bottoms appropriate for the activity. This may mean shorts or blue jeans.
EXPLORERS (ages 9-12)
Class A (required) Uniform:
- AHG Explorer Vest
- AHG red Neckerchief
- American Flag Patch
- Troop Number patches (red) (order one of each number 0, 1,7,4)
- AHG Pin**
- Tenderheart & Explorer Handbook***
Purchase anywhere:
- White Polo
- Khaki or navy-blue walking shorts/pants/skort/skirt (most of our girls choose Khaki)
Optional:
**If she is not new to the Troop, your Explorer can move her pin from her Tenderheart uniform to her Explorer uniform.
***If your Explorer already has a Tenderheart & Explorer handbook purchased in 2020 or 2021, she will not need to purchase a new handbook.
****There is an Explorer Start Up Bundle that includes all of the items above (including the not required items) as well as an Explorer Vest Bundle if you want to make things a little easier.
Class B (optional) Uniform:
- AHG Official Class B T-Shirt (encouraged!)
- AHG Official Reach Higher Class B Explorer T-Shirt
- AHG Official Class B Long-Sleeve T-Shirt
*The Class B T-Shirts can be worn with bottoms appropriate for the activity. This may mean shorts or blue jeans.
PIONEERS (ages 12-14)
Class A (required) Uniform:
- AHG Pioneer & Patriot Sash
- American Flag Patch
- Troop Number patches (red) (order 1 of each number: 0, 7, 1, 4)
- AHG Pin*
- Pioneer & Patriot Handbook**
Purchase anywhere:
- White Polo
- Khaki or navy-blue walking shorts/pants/skort/skirt (most of our girls choose Khaki)
Optional:
*If she is not new to the Troop, your Pioneer can move her pin from her Explorer uniform to her Pioneer uniform.
**Returning girls: If your handbook was purchased in 2020, you may continue to use it this year. If it was purchased prior to 2020, you will need to purchase the new handbook.

- Pioneer & Patriot Handbook***
Purchase anywhere:
- Red Polo
- Khaki or navy-blue walking shorts/pants/skorts/skirts (most of our girls choose khaki)
Optional:
*If she is not new to the Troop, your Patriot can continue to wear her Pioneer Sash. She must be able to keep all of her badges and patches tidy. If it fills up, she should purchase a new sash.
**If she is not new to the Troop, your Patriot can move her pin from her Pioneer uniform to her Patriot uniform.
***If your Patriot already has a Pioneer & Patriot handbook purchased in 2020 or 2021, she will not need to purchase a new handbook.
****There is a Patriot Start Up Bundle that includes all of the items above (including the not required items).
